What We Believe and Teach
About God
- The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is very
much alive and active in our world
- God created the world and boys and girls (even
though we don't necessarily understand how He did it!), and we are His
children
- God is approachable at any time by everyone,
including girls and boys
- Our faith in God is strengthened when we gather
as a community to focus our thoughts, words and songs on God
- God gave us music, art and movement as a way to
celebrate life and to worship Him
About Jesus Christ
- Because God loves people so much, He sent his
son Jesus Christ to live with us
- As a man, Jesus Christ showed us by His example
the way God wants people to live; a key message was to love each other as we
love ourselves. Jesus Christ lived and died that message, culminating in
his self-sacrifice on the Cross
- Jesus Christ demonstrated His divine nature
through His miraculous birth, His sinless life, His teachings and miracles and,
ultimately, the Resurrection and Ascension
- Through simple faith in Jesus, we can be His
friends
- Friends of Jesus try to follow His example by
being kind, cheerful and generous
About the Holy Spirit
- The Holy Spirit is the "spirit of truth" and
our "comforter," sent by the Father to help us live life to its fullest
- The Holy Spirit will live inside of any boy or
girl who opens his or her heart to Him
About the Bible
- The Bible is the inspired book of stories and
lessons about God, His people and Jesus Christ
- The Bible is a How-To guide for how girls
and boys should approach their lives
- Bible stories of how God has shown Himself
through time continue to hold contemporary relevance for boys and girls in
San Francisco in the 21st
